Atlanta rapper Future finally drops “Sh*t†Remix featuring Drake and Juicy J. Word in the streets is that Drake’s verse was aimed to take shots at Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar, once again escalating the beef between the two.
“And if a nigga say my name, he the hot shit
But if I say that nigga name he still the hot shit
Fucked up, lucky I don’t feed into the gossip
Niggas act like they don’t know but they should know
Yeah, I just think it’s funny how they danglin’ the bait
But I’m the one whose killin’ niggas on the hooks though”
This hip-hop beef started after Kendrick Lamar called out multiple rappers in his song “Control.†When Drake first responded to the track he said, “It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me. That’s all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick’s not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic.” [Billboard Interview]
As many other interviews were done, Drake also mentioned that he had lost respect for Kendrick after he heard “Control” and that it wasn’t that memorable anyway:
“I almost wish he had come in there on that sh*t because I kind of lost a little bit of respect for the sentiment of the verse. If it’s really ‘f*ck everybody’ then it needs to be ‘f*ck everybody’. It can’t just be halfway.†[September Billboard Interview]
After hearing Drake’s responses, Kendrick came for Drake again in his BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher (October 15), playing with Drake’s album title “Nothing Was the Same”:
“Nothing’s been the same since they dropped ‘Control’ / And tucked the sensitive rapper back in his pajama clothes/Ha-ha, jokes on you / High-five, I’m bullet proof / Your shits will never penetrate / Pin the tail on the donkey, boy, you’ve been a fake.”
Will these two hip-hip icons ever squash the beef? Kendrick Lamar fires at Drake, Drake fires at Kendrick etc. They’re both talented rappers and should give credit where it’s due, but in their eyes, only one should be crowned the King of Hip-Hop!
After it’s all said and done, who will walk away with the crown, Compton Kendrick or Canadian Drake?
