Raven-Symone’ basically slams the idea of Harriet Tubman as the new face of the $20 bill!
There’s an unofficial vote going around on whether Harriet Tubman should be the new face of the $20 bill is how all of this actually got started.
On Tuesday during ABC’s ‘The View’ discussion on whether Harriet Tubman should replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, Raven-Symone’ was very vocal and decided to stir up the pot a little by making a controversial statement that she believes Rosa Parks would make a better choice.
The actress based her beliefs on the fact that “we need to move a little more forward, choose someone that is closer to the progression that we are doing now.”
And it went something like this:
“No offense to everyone that’s going to be mad at me for saying this, I don’t like that idea. I think we need to move a little bit forward. Let me just preference that I understand the history, I was taught…trust me I was in that culture.”
“Me personally I would have chosen Rosa Parks, I would have chosen someone who is closer to the progression that we are doing now and I know you have to understand history so you don’t repeat it but that doesn’t really happen in our world because we still repeat history of hating other cultures over and over again. So I would choose a different one, no offense.”
That one statement alone has caused all kinds of uproar on social media. Take a look at the video and you judge for yourself.
